SafeHouse of Shelby County Counseling Services offer free and confidential emotional support to survivors of domestic and sexual violence, their children, and families. Our counselors specialize in assisting those who have experienced abuse and assault and understand the impact of trauma on individuals and those who love them.
Elements of individual and/or group counseling include:
- Understanding the dynamics and effects of abuse
- Crisis intervention
- Sorting out feelings of confusion and helplessness
- Treating trauma reactions for victims of all ages
- Safety planning and support
At SafeHouse we recognize that survivors of domestic and sexual violence often encounter complicated legal matters as a result of that experience. Our Legal Assistance for Victims Program provides support as you work to cut ties with your partner and/or confront legal matters resulting from your abuse.
SafeHouse provides free and confidential legal advocacy services to qualifying low income adult victims of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and sexual assault.
We’re here to support you as you navigate the legal system and will help you identify your rights and options as a survivor of abuse. Our services include support and advocacy during court proceedings, assistance with protection from abuse orders (PFAs), legal representation, and attorney referrals.
