A Year of Gratitude and Support
As we approach the end of this year, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we’ve had at SafeHouse. I’m filled with a deep sense of gratitude for the unwavering support, dedication, and compassion that have defined our shared mission to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
2023 Highlights
- In April we teamed up with Owens House for an awareness walk during Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Child Abuse Awareness Month. Additionally, we hosted the Bringing Hope Banquet and silent auction and set a record breaking fundraising goal!
- Throughout the year, our staff and volunteers dedicated their time to work days at both our shelter and Pelham office, revamping the spaces by cleaning, patching, sanding, and painting to create a more comfortable environment for our clients and staff.
- August brought us a significant moment in the form of a car donation from Oak Mountain Missions to one of our shelter residents. The car greatly improved her ability to commute to multiple jobs and foster her path toward independent living. Our 4th Annual SafeHouse 5K also made a mark by raising over $15,000, another fundraising milestone.
- October saw a heartwarming gesture from eight-year-old Maddie Nolan who chose to collect toys for SafeHouse children instead of receiving birthday gifts. Our annual Fall Festival held at the shelter featured a profound guest speaker and concluded with a balloon release by our clients and staff.
I am thankful beyond words for these special moments and for everyone who made them possible.
To our incredible team of staff members, advocates, and volunteers, your commitment and tireless efforts have been the bedrock of our success, providing unwavering support and compassion to those who need it most.
To our generous donors and supporters, your belief in our cause has been nothing short of inspiring. Your contributions, whether big or small, have helped sustain our vital programs and services, ensuring that survivors receive the assistance they deserve.
A heartfelt appreciation also goes out to our community partners and allies. Your collaboration and solidarity have strengthened our outreach efforts and amplified our impact, creating a network of support that extends beyond our walls.
By the Numbers
Behind each act of kindness and every donation lies a profound impact on the lives we touch. These numbers stand as a testament to the collective strength of our efforts, illustrating the tangible difference we’ve made in providing shelter, support, and hope to hundreds of individuals seeking refuge and healing from domestic violence and sexual assault.
