Honoring the Life of Charity Snow and Our Commitment to Support Survivors

At SafeHouse, we are heartbroken to learn of the recent loss of Charity Lea Snow, a mother and beloved community member who tragically lost her life to domestic violence. The outpouring of love and support from the Columbiana community is a testament to the impact she had on so many. During a candlelight vigil on October 30, community members gathered to honor her memory and stand in solidarity with her family, offering comfort and strength in this time of unimaginable grief.

Domestic violence is not just a far-off issue; it is here, in our own backyards. It affects our friends, family, and neighbors, sometimes with devastating consequences. Charity’s tragic death serves as a somber reminder of why SafeHouse exists—to provide a haven for individuals like Charity and to prevent more lives from being shattered by abuse.

Charity’s brother spoke at the vigil, sharing memories of her as a loving, kind-hearted person who showed compassion to everyone she met. He also offered a powerful plea to those in abusive relationships: “Seek help and break the cycle before it’s too late.” At SafeHouse, we want to echo his call for action. If you are experiencing domestic violence, know that you are not alone. We are here to support you, and our crisis line is open 24/7 for anyone in need.

Our community’s response to Charity’s passing is a vital reminder of the importance of awareness and support in breaking the cycle of domestic violence. As we mourn for Charity, we also renew our commitment to being a source of hope and safety for all survivors. If you or someone you know needs assistance, please reach out. We are here to help.
