Sparkle Against Stalking

January is National Stalking Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the pervasive and often misunderstood crime of stalking. Stalking impacts millions of individuals every year, creating fear, uncertainty, and significant disruptions to their lives. Whether through persistent unwanted contact, monitoring, or intimidation, stalking is a crime that demands our attention and action.

This month, SafeHouse is joining advocates across the nation in shining a light on stalking and its impact by participating in Sparkle Against Stalking, an empowering campaign to raise awareness and support survivors. This initiative encourages communities to unite, educate, and advocate for the safety and well-being of stalking victims.

Mark Your Calendar: Sparkle Against Stalking Day of Action

On January 18th, we invite you to wear something that sparkles—whether it’s glitter, sequins, or shiny accessories—as a visible show of support for stalking awareness and survivors. Share your sparkle on social media using the hashtag #SparkleAgainstStalking to help spread the message far and wide.

How You Can Get Involved

Learn the Facts

Understanding stalking is the first step to addressing it. Stalking can include behaviors such as repeated, unwanted contact; monitoring; following; or threats. These actions cause fear and distress, significantly impacting victims’ mental and physical health. Stalking can happen both within and outside of romantic relationships.

Spread Awareness

Share resources, statistics, and information about stalking on your social media channels, at your workplace, or in your community. Visit organizations like the Stalking Prevention, Awareness, and Resource Center (SPARC) for tools and resources.

Support Survivors

Victims of stalking often feel isolated or silenced. Offering support, listening without judgment, and helping connect survivors to resources like SafeHouse can make a significant difference.

Participate in Sparkle Against Stalking

Wear your sparkle on January 18th and encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to do the same. Use the opportunity to spark conversations about the seriousness of stalking and the resources available for help.

SafeHouse is committed to standing with survivors and working to prevent stalking in our community. Through outreach, education, and advocacy, we aim to reduce the prevalence of stalking and provide essential resources for those impacted.
